Trekking Huayhuash (5 Days)

Day 1: Huaraz - Cuartelhuain (4,180 m) - Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m) - Mitucocha (4,230 m)
Transport to Cuartelhuain starting point of the hike.
» Hiking time: 5 to 6 hours approx.
» Campsite: Mitucocha (4,230 m)

Day 2: Mitucocha (4,230 m.) - Carhuac Pass “Yanapunta” (4,650 m.) - Laguna Carhuacocha (4,140 m.)
» Hiking time: 5 to 6 hours approx.
» Campsite: Carhuacocha (4140 m)

Day 3: Laguna Carhuacocha (4,140 m.) - Paso Siula (4,830 m.) - Huayhuash (4,350 m.)
This day we will ascend to the Siula pass at a height of 4,800m. From here we appreciate the mountains of Siula, Yerupaja Grande and Yerupaja Chico and the 3 famous Huayhuash lagoons.
» Hiking time: 8 hours approx.
» Campsite: Huayhuash (4350m)

Day 4: Huayhuash – Trapecio Pass (5,000 m.) – Cuyocpampa (4,560 m.)
» Hiking time: 5 to 6 hours approx.
» Campsite: Cuyocpampa (4560 m)

Day 5: Cuyocpampa (4,560 m.) - Santa Rosa Pass (5,070 m.) – Huayllapa (3,600 m.) - Barranca
This day we will ascend to the Santa Rosa pass 5070 m to have an impressive view of the highest mountains of Huayhuash, Laguna Jurao and Sarapococha.
» Hiking time: 9 hours approx.
» Transport to Barranca.

Included:

• Transportation: From your hotel in Huaraz to the starting point of the trek, and from the end of the trek to your hotel in Barranca.
• Camping equipment: Good quality mountain tents (2 people per tent), mattresses, dining tent, kitchen tent, dishes and kitchen utensils, tables and chairs.
• Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner (option for vegetarians or vegans).
• Guide: Certified trekking guide (English or Spanish).
• Cook: Trained cook to prepare varied and healthy dishes.
• Arriero: In charge of loading the donkeys and driving them.
• Donkeys: The number of donkeys depends on the size of the group. You can carry up to 7kg/15lbs of personal items that will be loaded onto the donkeys. During the day you will only carry your personal backpack.
• Emergency horse: A horse will be available with the muleteers in case of emergencies for evacuation purposes.
• First aid kit

Not Included:

• Entrance fee to the Huayhuash communities.
• Personal trekking equipment: sleeping bag (it is possible to rent in Huaraz), trekking shoes or boots, waterproof jacket and/or pants, poncho, backpack, flashlight, etc.
• Additional expenses: as a result of leaving the trek early, emergency rescue and/or evacuation, extra food or drinks in the villages, medical treatment.
• Breakfast the first day and dinner the last day.
