This mountain is one of the main attractions of the Cordillera Blanca; and is considered by many as one of the most beautiful mountains in the world and is the dream of all mountaineers.

Alpamayo has an almost perfect ice pyramid seen from the north, Quebrada de los Cedros – Alpamayo trekking route. It has been declared by Alpinismus magazine as "The most beautiful mountain in the world" in a Photo Contest in Munich - Germany in 1966.

Itinerary

Day 1: Huaraz (3100 m) – Cashapampa (2900 m) – Llamacorral (3760 m)
Duration: 3 hours (transport from Huaraz), 4 – 5 hours approx. (hike).

Day 2: Llamacorral - Jatuncocha Lagoon - Arhuaycocha valley - Alpamayo Base Camp (4600m).
Duration: 5 – 6 hours approx.

Day 3: Alpamayo base camp (4600 m) – Moraine camp – Alpamayo high camp (5300 m).
Duration: 6 – 7 hours approx.

Day 4: Alpamayo high camp (5300 m) – Alpamayo Summit (5947m) – Base camp.
Duration: 10 – 12 hours approx.

Day 5: Alpamayo base camp (4600m) – Santa Cruz Valley – Llamacorral (3760m)
Duration: 4 – 5 hours approx.

Day 6: Llamacorral (3760m) - Cashapampa (2900m) - Huaraz.
Duration: 3 – 4 hours approx. (hike) 3 hours (transport)

Day 1: Huaraz - Caraz - Cashapampa 2973 masl. - Llamacorral 3760 masl. Transfer in private transport Huaraz - Cashapampa, from where the trek to the Llamacorral camp begins. Walk 5 to 6 hours approx.

Day 2: Llama Corral - ALPAMAYO base camp 4300 masl. This day on the route we will visit the Ichiccocha and Jatuncocha lagoons, where you can see the snow-capped peaks of Caraz, Pumapampa, Quitaraju, Alpamayo, Pucahirca, Rinrinjirca, Taulliraju, Artesonraju, Paria, Millishraju, among others. Walk 4 to 5 hours approx.

Day 3: Base camp - Camp I 5300 masl. Ascent to the moraine then to the Alpamayo glacier, we ascend to capo I. Hike 6 to 7 hours approx.

Day 4: Camp I - Alpamayo Summit 5947 masl. output approx. at 1:00 a.m. return field I approx. 11:00 am. Climbing 9 to 12 hours approx.

Day 5: Camp I - Base camp 4300 masl. Descent to the Base Camp of the alpamayo. Walk 5 to 6 hours approx.

Day 6: Base camp - Llamacorral 3760 masl. Descend the entire Santa Cruz ravine, to the Llamacorral camp, walk 4 to 5 hours approx.

Day 7: Llama Corral - Cashapampa - Huaraz. Descend the Santa Cruz ravine to the town of Cashapampa. Hike 3 to 4 hours approx. Transfer to Huaraz in private transportation.
