This mountain is one of the main attractions of the Cordillera Blanca; and is considered by many as one of the most beautiful mountains in the world and is the dream of all mountaineers.
Alpamayo has an almost perfect ice pyramid seen from the north, Quebrada de los Cedros – Alpamayo trekking route. It has been declared by Alpinismus magazine as "The most beautiful mountain in the world" in a Photo Contest in Munich - Germany in 1966.
